Modern Slavery

Slavery is a form of dependent labor performed by a non-relative. A slave is deprived of his personal freedom, speech and political expression and of the right to move geographically as he wishes. There are also likely to be limits to his ability to make choices regarding his profession, sexual preferences and partners. Slavery is usually, but not always, involuntary. If all of these characterizations in their most restrictive forms do not apply to a slave, the slave regime in that place will probably be characterized as “lenient”; if almost all of them did, it would normally be characterized as “severe.” But what is a slave regime or an elite ?

Elite is a group of people with extraordinary privileges, which gives them the highest position in a certain area. This may include political, military, economic and cultural elites. Completely egalitarian societies do not occur, because there is always some social inequality. This can be based on things such as prestige, power, birth, possessions, election, knowledge and experience. Because elites are at the top of society, these selection criteria can escape control from the rest of society. This is called immunity.  But what does that mean? immunity?

Diplomatic inviolability or diplomatic immunity is a protection provided by both international and national laws against legal prosecution for diplomats, foreign heads of state, heads of government, ministers of foreign affairs – during the period in which they exercise that function – and by extension certain officials of international organizations. This protection has everything to do with the special nature of their function. The main purpose is to ensure officers can perform duties without hindrance. By “Without hindrance” is meant tacitly referring to “the inability of ordinary citizens to intervene“. This includes their independence from the authorities of the host state. This arrangement applies, within certain limits, to resident relatives of diplomats and the staff of foreign nationality of the mission. This becomes more understandable when one realizes that this does not give authorities the opportunity to put pressure on diplomats and their family members.
